For many car dealers, taking high-quality photos of used cars is both time-consuming and expensive. Autopix combines artificial intelligence with user-friendly technology to make car photography simpler and faster for dealerships across the Nordics.

Autopix was founded with a clear goal: to make it significantly easier for the automotive industry to present cars professionally without the need for costly, advanced equipment. Today, the company’s solutions are used by major dealer chains such as Motor Forum, Bauda, Nordvik, and Bilbolaget, as well as independent dealerships of all sizes. The photos created with the app are uploaded daily to Finn.no and other marketplaces across the Nordic region.

AI-superpower

"We saw that car dealers were spending far too much time and money on photography and image editing. With Autopix, you can get professional studio photos in just a few minutes, directly from your phone" - says founder and CEO Erlend Bakke.

The core of the service is an app that combines assisted photography with automatic background removal, placing the vehicle in a digital studio. The result is clear, professional images that highlight the brand.

Autopix offers two options: 1) a fully automated solution that delivers images within minutes, and 2) a solution with manual quality assurance for those who want extra editing and maximum quality. At the same time, feedback is provided when a department fails to deliver according to the brand profile.

"We believe in the balance between AI automation and the human touch. It’s not about replacing people, but about giving them tools that enable smarter ways of working" says COO Adam Finch.

The right use of imagery can play a decisive role in car marketing. In the article “Hvordan selge flere biler på nett”, Autopix identifies several strategies that give car dealers a competitive edge, all supported by the Autopix solution:

1. Great photos build trust

93% of car buyers look at the photos before anything else, and high-quality images significantly increase sales conversions, according to Finn.no.

2. The right number of photos = better engagement

Too many photos can make customers lose interest and move on to another listing. Autopix recommends 15–20 images per car, up to 25 for well-equipped vehicles, but never too many.

3. Integrations save time and money

Customers never need to leave the app. They can send photos directly to their Dealer Management System (DMS) via Billink, Carweb, Drive, or BUS.

4. Use a strong main image

The first photo a customer sees can be crucial, it should be a powerful “hero image” that entices them to click into the ad.

5. Accurate representation – avoid misunderstandings

Show the car as it truly is, with all its details. Autopix ensures consistent images without artificial retouching that could undermine trust in the car or the dealership. If the vehicle is being sold with damage, that should be clearly visible.

6. Show your sales team to build trust

Include a photo of your sales team to create trust with potential customers. This image can be taken in the showroom or in front of your dealership.

A Norwegian tech adventure in the automotive industry

Autopix is today a small but dynamic team of developers, designers, and business developers based in Oslo, serving customers across Scandinavia.

"We work closely with dealerships to understand their everyday challenges. Many people think of AI as something big and distant, but our goal is to make it simple and practical" - says Bakke.

Autopix currently holds a 4.8-star rating in the App Store, which, according to Erlend, can be attributed to their strong focus on user-friendliness and the customer journey.

The company is seeing growing interest, especially among major players looking to save time, strengthen their brand, and get cars to market faster. While still growing, Autopix has big ambitions: to become the leading photo app for the automotive industry in Europe, always with quality, efficiency, and customer value in the driver’s seat.

The Autopix team comes from five different countries and has built the technology from the ground up at StartupLab in Oslo Science Park
